Photograph it all

In the past, I would limit myself by strictly photographing people. Liberating myself for this past one year photographing everything I come across has been the most exciting way to approach the medium since I first picked up a camera over a decade ago.

Make a collection

Nowadays, I’m intrigued by making a collection through my photography. Instead of hoarding items and storing them in bins and boxes and shelves in my closet, I can make a simple photo as a way to take ownership of the things I find on the street. Is it possible to photograph every square inch of a city? Maybe like Pokémon, the goal is to catch them all!

Appreciate the details

I’m interested in photographing practically everything now because it’s such a more engaging way to interact with life. I’ve been slowing down so much to the point where I’m basically tiptoeing through the streets investigating every inch and every detail. This allows me to appreciate the beauty that is everywhere before me.

Just have fun

Taking photography seriously is boring. By opening yourself up to the infinite possibilities in the mundane, you can find new ways to play the same game every single day. By photographing more found objects and details, landscapes, buildings, etc. I’ve become the most curious version of myself. If you’re a photographer that’s been strictly focused on photographing people, I encourage you to open yourself up to uplifting the discarded, the inanimate, the things that are left behind.
