Treat everything as a potential photograph

I believe there’s potential in any inanimate object, person, place, or thing. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world. I believe that you must open your mind to expand your visual language. You should look at the world with a fresh pair of eyes each day. Return to the naïve, childlike state. Essentially just pretend like you’re a big kid with the camera.

The mundane world around you is infinitely photographable

Would a child have the knowledge of the great photographs of Alex Webb, Bruce Gilden, Gary Winogrand, or Walker Evans in the back of his mind when he’s making pictures?

You should forget everything you think you know about photography, what makes a good or bad photograph, and the traditional ways of doing things. Transcend the tradition and explore your subconscious mind. Allow your body to wander through the world without any preconceived notions.

Observe every detail with intensity and you will find potential everywhere.
