Uplift the discarded

My recent fascination with photographing the discarded objects around me is fueling my curiosity. When I look around the city, I find myself lost in the details, the forgotten, and the downtrodden.

God is in the details

Why photograph details?

I think in street photography a lot of the times we can get caught up in the hunt. Perhaps to slow down and walk at a real easy pace provides more opportunity for you to witness beautiful things. I love walking at an extremely slow pace through the city, and this allows me to find more opportunities to make more pictures.

Everything is beautiful

I believe that everything can become beautiful when photographed. There’s infinite potential in the mundane things all around us. You just have to remain open to them. Whether it’s the textures on the wall, a cigarette bud, a flower growing between the cracks of the streets… I always find potential everywhere

Get as close as possible

One technique that I’ve adopted when making portraits of people on the street is placing my camera as close as possible to the face of the subject. Honing in on the details of the face is an interesting way to create what could’ve been a rather boring portrait photograph.

Set your camera to the closest focus distance as possible. Experiment using macro mode and hone in on the details all around you!
