Walk 75% SLOWER than everyone

One practical suggestion I have for practicing street photography is to walk 75% slower than everybody else on the street.

Why?

When you walk slowly on the street, you will see more. The more you will see, the more you will photograph. Street photography requires strong pattern recognition. By moving your body at a slow pace, it helps you connect with the patterns of both nature and human behavior. Listen to the sounds of the street, watch the feet as they dance upon the street, smell the street, and follow your gut.

Go slow and just let life flow towards you!

Don’t think, just shoot. When you slow down, you will make more photographs. Find yourself lost in the details and press that shutter more. Stop being so decisive and find beauty in the mundane all around you.
