Each week, I make sure to walk the entire perimeter of Philadelphia. I like to cover the city from river to river, and everything in between. When I walk the perimeter, I’m often walking where people don’t go. This is something I enjoy most in my weekly routine. I enjoy being alone, in solitude, away from the chaos for a period of time. It helps with clearing my mind and thinking.
I find that by walking along the perimeter or the outskirts of any town, you can be surprised more, and find yourself in this curious state, along the borders, where people sometimes dwell, but most times do not. I find much satisfaction, with my perimeter walk. I find that even when I travel to new places, the perimeter always provides me with something fascinating to photograph, observe, or experience.
